The western section of the S7 Fürstenfeld expressway between the Riegersdorf junction on the A2 and the state border with Hungary near Heiligenkreuz will be officially opened to public transport on 23.03.2024. With a total length of 28.4 km (14.8 km western section, 13.6 km eastern section), this project is of enormous importance for regional mobility.
The eight construction lots of the western section were realized in the period from December 2017 to December 2023, with the Kostmann team implementing three of these construction lots with a contract volume of over 100 million euros.
In this project, a wide variety of special civil engineering works, bridge objects and a bridge folding method used for the first time with the Vienna University of Technology were applied. The S7 Fürstenfeld expressway is an important step towards improved transport infrastructure and mobility in the region.
